Solvent Extraction Plant (Stage 2)

In the Solvent Extraction Plant, press cake or other residue which results from seed preparatory is subjected to hexane ("solvent") to remove much of the remaining oil content which is then subjected to further refining to make it fit for human consumption.

Our solvent extraction plant can process 250 TPD of oil bearing material per day. The plant has been successfully processing Copra Cake and producing de-oiled cake that is being supplied to some of the largest Cattle Feed manufacturers. The facility can be used to processs any oil bearing material

Introduction

JS Overseas has set-up a fully integrated Edible Oil Refining Facility with Solvent Extraction capability in the coastal district of Thiruvarur in the State of Tamil Nadu. The facility has a capacity to produce 500 Metric Tons of Refined Edible Oil Per Day.

Oil Refining is a process of separating crude oil into its different constituents, and then purifying each into marketable products. The production of edible vegetable oils involves 2 preliminary stages.

The 1st process is called the preparatory phase in which the oil bearing material is readied for the oil extraction stage. This can be done by either -:
  • Cracking/Breaking/Flaking
  • Through Expander
  • Extruder/Expeller
  • Pellatizing

The 2nd stage uses the residue from the Preparatory Stage as a source to extract most of the remaining oil content. .

Thereafter, in the 3rd stage, further processing makes the oil fit for human consumption . The techniques used are similar for most vegetable oils.

Refining (3rd Stage)

Our technical objective at this stage is to remove all impurities in the freshly extracted oil while preserving the oil's natural, positive attributes

In the refining process fatty acids (Impurities) are removed by steam distillation under high vacuum, to produce an odorless, tasteless, light colored product that has a higher stability against oxidation.

Our plant has a capacity of refining 350 metric tons of edible oil per day. These plants also have the capability of processing soft oils.

Expeller ( Stage 1 )

Our plant has a total capacity of crushing 250 tons of oil bearing material per day. During this physical crushing process, the seed sheds most of the oil it bears. We obtain edible oil that is directly fit for human consumption as well as oil seed with some remaining oil still in it. This processed oil seed needs to be further processed to extract the oil that cannot be obtained from a physical crushing process. The material is fed into our oil extraction plant for further oil extraction.

Fractionation (Stage 3)

Depending upon the end use of the oil, the refined oil which is already fit for human consumption can be further subjected to a process called 'Fractionation'. Hard Oil which is high in fat content is generally used in the bakery industry whereas Soft Oil is used for direct human consumption. Fractionation separates the Hard Oil from the Soft Oil, thereby allowing industry specific uses of the end product.

Fractionation or crystallisation is an established method of separation of two or more components in a mixture, usually into a low melting liquid fraction and a high melting solid fraction termed Olein and Stearin respectively. The process is a simple physical method of separation utilising the crystallisation properties of triglycerides and requires no additives in the process.

Our Dry Fractionation Plant has a capacity of 150 Metric Tons Per Day.

Warehousing Facility

For the purpose of storing raw material as well as finished goods, the plant has a total storage capacity of approximately 5000 Metric Tons .

Land Transport Infrastructure

In order to better service our customers as well as feed our refinery with timely raw materials, we have built a fleet of 12 Oil Tanker Lorries. These Tanker Lorries are used in the transportation of Crude Oil from the port installation as well as to deliver refined Oil Cargo to our customers.
